CECS 20000 001 - Comp-TIA A+ CEU: 4 hours This course is intended to provide the student with the skills necessary to become a computer technician. The material covered in this course will help prepare the student to take the Comp-TIA A+ certification exams, which are divided into 2 components:
- Exam 220-901 (Hardware) tests the ability to install, configure and maintain all the hardware technology involved in a personal computer.
- Exam 220-902 (Operating Systems) covers the configuration, repair and troubleshooting of the Windows Operating System
Course Objectives:
- To introduce students to the various components that make the computer work.
- To introduce students to operational procedures such as safety and environmental issues, communication and professionalism.
- To equip the students with the basic skills of the Windows Operating System that will enable them to update, upgrade and install Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1.
- To expose the students to mobile devices such as the Apple IOS and Google Android Devices so they can interact with hardware and software as well as configure personal settings such as email and security.
- To provide students with opportunities to develop basic skills in keeping up to date with new security threats and corrective or mitigating measures to address them to secure a personal computer.
- To expose the students to the concepts of Networks, as well as the methods of security a network, setting up and securing a SOHO router and wireless access point.
