CECH 00590 - Orchestrating a Successful Start-Up CEU: (2.7 ) This workshop-model course is designed to facilitate the successful start-up of Michigan School for the Arts. Participants will be immersed in the research behind using a Professional Learning Community to implement a shared culture with norms, processes, and procedures. The Professional Learning Community process will be used to explore and develop school-wide positive behavior supports, targeted strategies for effective reading instruction, and a model for response to intervention (RTI) or another multi-tiered system of support, that is created in concert with the building curriculum and school improvement plan.Outcomes:- Learners will be able to articulate the cultural norms necessary to facilitate dialogue among colleagues.- Learners will develop a shared understanding and vision for school-wide positive behavior supports.- Learners will develop instructional strategies that are research-based to effectuate growth in reading achievement levels to close the gap between low and high levels of achievement.- Learners will use professional learning communities to develop a pyramid model of interventions or system of RTI (Response to Intervention) for their building.
