CHM 4257 - Biochemistry Laboratory (3) Techniques of extraction, separation, identification and quantification of proteins and DNA including electrophoresis and various forms of chromatography; study of enzyme kinetics and regulation of catalytic activity; molecular biology methods including cloning, polymerase chain reaction, site-directed mutagenesis and expression and analysis of mutated proteins. Emphasis placed on mathematical treatment of experimental data. Identical with BCM 4257 . Satisfies the university general education requirement for the capstone experience. Satisfies the university general education requirement for a writing intensive course in the major. Prerequisite for writing intensive; completion of the university writing foundation requirement. Prerequisite(s): CHM 4254 or BCM 4254 , which may be taken concurrently, and WRT 1060 or equivalent with a grade of (C) or higher
