LIN 1185 - Language and Gender (4) A theoretical and practical examination of gendered speech as part of social practice in the United States and other countries. Topics include approaches to the study of language and gender, policing of women’s speech, how gender emerges in grammar, vocabulary, and discourse, and the interaction of gender and speech style.
