This course provides the student with clinical experiences and didactic education in the essential elements of magnetic resonance imaging in preparation for the post-primary certification. This course is an in-depth study of patient safety, equipment operation, imaging methodology and pathologic considerations. Instructors Permission required.

Textbooks and Materials: ASRT, MR Basics: The Series
Assignments and Grading: Lecture, discussion, instructor and module completion, tests and assigments. Participation in class activities is required. Completion of ASRT modules is required. Students may submit completed modules for required Continuing Education (CE) credit if desired. CE tests will not be discussed nor reviewed in class.
Gradng: Four tests will be given. The grade on each assignment will be weighted equally as a test grade. Grades are not rounded.
Clinical Study-Research Assignment (and Presentation): Student will select a modality specific procedure to present to the class. The topic will be a pathology best demonstrated with magnetic resonance imaging. The grade on this assignment will count as one test grade.
Module Assignments: All module assignments must be completed on time as directed by the instructor. Failure to complete an assignment as directed will result in a grade of “0”.
A grade of 75% is required to pass this class.
