Prepares students with strategies of how to read, understand, and appreciate literary texts. The course also makes it possible for students to enter into a vicarious experience which, as George Eliot puts it, is the most important thing we owe the artist. May be repeated for four extra credits. Satisfies the university general education requirement in the literature knowledge exploration area. Satisfies the university general education requirement for a writing intensive course in general education. Prerequisite for writing intensive: completion of the university writing foundation requirement.
