CEEN 10301 - Small Drone Remote Pilot Knowledge & Proficiency

Students will receive hands-on lessons related to owning, flying, and maintaining a small UAS. The flying skills test will require students to fly a basic drone in multiple directions and orientations, take off/ land, and fly through an obstacle course all while demonstrating safety and proficiency.

This course will help students to understand FAA regulations related to the operation of sUAS below 55 pounds, safety procedures and operation, laws, and ethics. It will highlight cases and scenarios related to safety procedures, operations, maintenance, responsibilities, insurance, laws, ethics, and introductory business concepts with sUAS. The regulations to be covered include maintenance and preflight inspection, emergency procedures, aerodynamics and aircraft operations, navigation, crew resource management, aeronautical decision-making, weather theory, reports, and forecasts.
