A historical look at the technology used in creating and recording music from the wax cylinder to the digital audio workstation and plugins. Compare and contrast recording formats, studio technology, performance practice, and the role of computers in music as they affect both artists and listeners through guided readings, analysis, reflection papers, and larger projects. No prior musical experience required.
