Central ethical issues in modern health care and research. Included are the right to life and death, informed consent, the right to refuse treatment, decision-making capacity, surrogate decision-making, advance directives and eugenics.
General Education Requirement(s): Satisfies the university general education requirement in the knowledge applications integration area. Prerequisite for knowledge applications integration: completion of the university general education requirement in the Western civilization knowledge exploration area. Satisfies the university general education requirement for writing intensive course in general education or the major, not both. Prerequisite for writing intensive: completion of the university writing foundation requirement.
