The course covers structure and principle of operation of AC Induction and Synchronous machines, sizing impacts on machine operation and different winding types. Major topics include: magnetic materials, permeance and reluctance, basics of magnetic circuits, flux path calculations, electromagnetic forces, machine losses and thermal analysis. Cross-listed with ECE 5600. Students cannot earn credit for both courses.
