ME 4205 - Powertrain Control & Diagnostics (4) Introduction to controls and diagnostics of advanced powertrain systems. Mathematical modeling; Feedback controls; Smith predictor; Internal model principle; Repetitive control; State/input observers; Kalman filter; Recursive least squares; Affine parameterization; Internal combustion engines; Air-fuel ratio control; Variable intake/exhaust valve control; Combustion diagnostics; Lithium-ion battery diagnostics; Computer simulation using MATLAB/Simulink. This course is cross-listed with ME 5205. Credit cannot be received for both ME 5205 and ME 4205.
