MGT 4600 - Sports Business Management and Marketing (3) Students will develop a strong knowledge foundation for the principles of the sports industry, which will serve as a base to build upon through their upper-level sport management courses. Identifying and explaining all segments of the sport industry. Applying functional areas of business to sport facilities, events, and organizations (e.g., management, marketing, finance, legal). Examine the ethical considerations specific to sports business.Understand the difference between governance structures, administration, budgeting, scheduling, opportunities, and challenges, at the recreational, high school, youth, collegiate, and professional levels. Understand and explore career paths and career strategies. Gain behind the scenes exposure of metro Detroit sport businesses and organizations.
Additional Requirement(s): Junior standing. Required course for the SM minor. Prerequisite(s): MKT 3020 (or MKT 3000 ) and ORG 3300 (or MGT 3000 ).
