For holders of the Graduate Certificate of Microcomputer Applications in Education (or the equivalent), the Department of Reading and Language Arts offers a 16-credit graduate certificate of advanced study in the theory and application of instructional systems technology in the enhancement of learning environments. This program provides an opportunity for focused inquiry in specific areas of interest relating to the impact of advanced technologies on teaching, learning and literacy in a variety of settings.
Doctoral students may pursue this certificate as part of their minor concentration. Students enrolled in the MAT in reading and language arts degree program may use these courses as part of their elective sequence with permission from their adviser. Students may also enroll in the certificate program without pursuing a graduate degree.
Admission terms and application deadlines
Before an applicant’s file can be reviewed for full program admission, all application documents must be received in Graduate Study and Lifelong Learning by the semester deadlines listed below. Incomplete applications will not be sent to departments for admission review.

Admission to graduate study at Oakland University is selective. In making admission recommendations to Graduate Study and Lifelong Learning, each department assesses the potential of applicants for success in the program by examining their undergraduate records, goal statement, letters of recommendation, prerequisite courses and any other admission requirements established by the academic department.
