Requirements for an elementary teaching minor in a modern language
The requirements for an elementary teaching minor in a modern language is a minimum of 20 credits in one language. Note
At least 12 credits of those required for the elementary teaching minor in a modern language must be taken at Oakland University. Additional information
In addition, an Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) score of advanced-low (intermediate-high for Chinese and Japanese), and EED 4240 , Methods of Teaching Foreign Language, are required. After September 1, 2017, an official ACTFL OPPI rating will be required. Students must consult with the appropriate advisor for teaching majors and minors in the department. Regression Policy
Students will not receive credit for a lower sequence course after successful completion of a more advanced level course. For example, students will not receive credit for FRH 1140 (or transfer course equivalent) if taken after successful completion of FRH 1150.
