General Education Requirements
In order to graduate on-schedule without taking additional courses, it is highly recommended that students meet with an Undergraduate Academic Adviser concerning the selection of all of their general education courses.
Each candidate for an Oakland University baccalaureate will need to satisfactorily complete approved courses in each of the following areas: Foundation, Exploration, Integration, Writing, U.S. Diversity and Capstone. For details, refer to the General Education Requirements section of the catalog.
Requirements for the Mathematics for Educators, B.A.
The Bachelor of Arts at the undergraduate level is intended for students interested in pursuing a state teacher certification at the 5-9 and 7-12 grade bands.
1. Students in this program must complete the requirements for a BA degree in the
College of Arts and Sciences and concurrently fulfill the requirements listed below.
2. No single major course grade may be below C. Successful completion of WRT 1060 and SED 1000 with a grade of B or better.
3. Students interested in continuing towards a secondary education certification will transition into the Mathematics for Educators, B.A./Teaching in Secondary Education, MAT, Combined B.A./MAT . At the undergraduate level, the Combined BA/MAT program allows students to apply for and receive delayed admission into the MAT program.
