Requirements for the liberal arts minor in geology

To earn a minor in geology, students must complete the following requirements. At least 12 credits not being used to fulfill any other major or minor program requirements are required.

1. Prerequisite courses

In order to enroll in the minor, students must have already completed algebra-based or calculus-based introductory physics courses.

In sequence:

PHY 1010 or PHY 1510

and

PHY 1020 or PHY 1520

2. Required courses

MTH 1555 - Calculus II (4)
PHY 1060 - Earth Science/Physical Geography (4)
PHY 3070 - Geophysics (4)
PHY 3080 - Physical Oceanography (4)
PHY 3660 - Vibrations and Waves (4)

3. At least two additional credits selected from

BIO 1004 - Life on Earth (4)
BIO 3343 - Earth and Life Coevolution (2)
ENV 3700 - Principles of Soil Science (4)
