Information Technology, B.S., Concentration in Cybersecurity

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers an optional concentration in Cybersecurity to students interested in broadening their knowledge in this specific area of computing and wishing the area of concentration in their degree. The concentration is available to, but not required of, any student enrolled in the Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. The concentration will be noted on the transcript of the students. Students may earn only one concentration and the concentration must be completed as part of their degree.

Requirements for the major in Information Technology, B.S., Concentration in Cybersecurity


To earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity, students must complete the following sequence of courses to satisfy their professional track and professional electives requirements of the Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. See Information Technology degree requirements for detail. Students who are interested in the concentration are advised to select Cybersecurity Track and to consult an academic adviser for guidance on course selection. Completing the concentration requires a minimum of 128 credits.

Note


Students can substitute one of the additional subjects with CSI 4900 (Special Topics), CSI 4995 (Undergraduate Research), or CSI 4996 (Independent Study) provided that the coursework is in the area of cybersecurity. Approvals of both the instructor and the chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering are required for such a substitution.
