Data Science, B.S., Concentration in Artificial Intelligence

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers an optional concentration in Artificial Intelligence to students interested in broadening their knowledge in this specific area of Data Science and wishing the area of concentration in their degree. The concentration is available to, but not required of, any student enrolled in the Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science. The concentration will be noted on the transcript of the students. Students may earn more than one concentration, and the concentration must be completed as part of their degree.

Requirements for the major in Data Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence, B.S. program
To earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence, students must complete the following sequence of courses to satisfy their professional elective area requirements of the Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science. To complete the concentration with 128 credits, students should strategically select an application area course also to count as a general education course. See Data Science degree requirements for detail. Students who are interested in the concentration are advised to consult an academic adviser for guidance on course selection.

Students can substitute at most one of the required subjects with at least 3 credits of CSI 4900 (Special Topics), CSI 4995 (Undergraduate Research), or CSI 4996 (Independent Study) provided that the coursework is in the area of artificial intelligence. Approvals of both the instructor and the chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering are required for such a substitution.
