Specific offerings for each semester may be found in the Schedule of Classes. General Education Requirements
In order to graduate on-schedule without taking additional courses, it is highly recommended that students meet with an Undergraduate Academic Adviser concerning the selection of all of their general education courses. Each candidate for an Oakland University baccalaureate will need to satisfactorily complete approved courses in each of the following areas: Foundations, Explorations, and Integration. Students have a choice of three 24 credit major tracks: cultural anthropology (strongly recommended for students planning to go to graduate school in this field); archaeology (strongly recommended for students planning graduate work or employment in archaeology) and general anthropology (recommended for students whose interest in anthropology is broadly educational). To earn a Bachelor of Arts with a major in anthropology, students must complete a minimum of 40 credits, including the following: 2. Complete one of the following 24-credit tracks
A. Cultural anthropology - 24 credits
1. One class from each of the following categories
Bio-evolutionary anthropology
Ethnology of world culture area
2. 8 credits in electives from any AN courses at the 2000 level or above
B. Archaeology - 24 credits
2. 12 elective credits selected from
C. General anthropology - 24 credits
- Elective credits chosen from any anthropology courses.
