Requirements for the liberal arts minor in Japanese language

A minimum of 20 credits in Japanese (JPN) or Modern Languages (ML) at the 2000 level and above from the following courses:

• JPN 2140 - Second Year Japanese I  (4)*
• JPN 2150 - Second Year Japanese II  (4)*
• JPN 3140 - Japanese Grammar and Reading (4)  

*Students who place out of JPN 2140 or JPN 2150 can complete the 20 credit requirement with any of the courses listed below.

and two courses selected from:

• JPN 3150 - Japanese Texts and Contexts  (4)
• JPN 3160 - Japanese Conversation  (4)
• JPN 3180 - Japanese Composition  (4)
• JPN 3510 - Japanese Civilization  (4)
• JPN 3550 - Translation: Japanese  (4)
• JPN 3700 - Introduction to Japanese Literature  (4)
• JPN 4080 - Advanced Japanese Conversation and Reading  (4)
• JPN 4200 - Modern and Contemporary Japanese Literature  (4)
• JPN 4550 - Advanced Translation from English to Japanese  (4)
• JPN 4570 - Business Japanese  (4)
• ML 3800 - Global Gateways (4)   

Note

At least 12 credits of those required for the minor in any of the languages must be taken at Oakland University.

Applicable Majors

All Majors can declare this Minor with the exception of the following Major(s): Japanese Language and Literature.
