ME 5580 - Fundamentals of Nuclear Engineering (3 credits)
Fundamental concepts of atomic and nuclear physics; interaction of radiation with matter; nuclear reactors and nuclear power; neutron diffusion and moderation; heat removal from nuclear reactors; radiation protection and shielding; reactor licensing, safety and the environment; applications in power generation and medicine.
