ECE 5731 - Fundamentals of Embedded System Design (4 credits)
Introduction to embedded systems. Topics include microcontroller architecture, operating systems and kernels, instructions, firmware, and common embedded applications using analog inputs/outputs, sensor/actuator interfaces, digital signal processing/filtering, communication standards, PID feedback control, and brushless/stepper motor sizing and control. Includes final project involving system specification, trade-off analysis, component design, and performance evaluation.
The course is cross-listed with ECE 4731. Credit can only be received for one of ECE 5731 or ECE 4731
