Creative Writing Minor

Requirements for the liberal arts minor in creative writing

The creative writing minor requires a total of 24 credits in English and creative writing distributed as follows:

1. Choose one of the following

• ENG 216 - Introductory Workshop in Creative Writing, Fiction/Poetry (4) (the prerequisite for the 300-level fiction and poetry tracks)
• ENG 217 - Introductory Workshop in Dramatic Writing for the Screen and Television (4) (the prerequisite for the 300-level screen and television workshops)

2. Choose eight credits in creative writing workshops.

3. Choose 12 credits in English courses.

Additional information

Students must maintain at least a 2.8 GPA in all creative writing workshops and at least a 2.0 in literature courses. Only one 100-level course will be accepted for credit in the minor.
