APM 5334 - Applied Numerical Methods: Matrix Methods (4 credits)
Systems of linear equations, Gaussian elimination, LU factorization, successive overrelaxation, approximation theory, curve fitting, eigenvalue problems, iterative techniques and non-linear systems of equations, some aspects of boundary value problems and introduction to numerical solutions of partial differential equations. Required background includes courses in multivariable calculus and linear algebra and knowledge of a scientific programming language. Formerly APM 534.
