EL 6520 - Critical Leadership Perspectives in Higher Education

(4 credits)

This course is designed to introduce students to and/or provide the opportunity to reflect upon leadership issues in higher education. Leadership can take place at any level in the organization. Students will read and analyze case studies displaying leadership actions as well as the scholarly literature on leadership and the personal narratives of selected leaders. Consistent with the social justice focus of the higher education program, this course will especially consider the idea that leadership as a “gendered” construct and discuss the consequences on both cisgendered, trans*, and self-identified women. Prerequisite(s): Student must have a Master’s degree and be admitted to the Post-Master’s Graduate Certificate in Higher Education program or the Master of Science in Nursing: Nursing Education program, or by permission of the instructor.
