ECE 5625 - Microgrid Design and Operation

(4 credits)

Microgrids are entities that are composed of at least one distributed energy resource and associated loads, which not only operate safely and efficiently within the local power distribution network but also can form intentional islands in electrical distribution systems. This course covers the fundamentals of designing and operating microgrids. Specifically includes modeling of generation resources and loads for design and operation of microgrids; their optimal operation and control strategies; and investigates interconnection, reliability and protection in microgrids. Students need basic knowledge of energy systems.

Course revisions made after the Graduate Catalog publication date will be posted in the Graduate Catalog Addendum.
