Music Technology Minor

Schedule of Classes

Specific offerings for each semester may be found in the Schedule of Classes.

Requirements

The curriculum for the minor in music technology is designed for auditioned music majors and auditioned minors. Up to 8 credits of this minor can overlap with the music major coursework. Students must complete a minimum of 24 credits in:

1. Eight credits in music technology courses

• MUS 3053 - Acoustics for Musicians (2)  
• MUS 3054 - Basic Recording Techniques (2)  
• MUS 3701 - Music Technology I: MIDI and Sequencing (2)  
• MUS 3702 - Music Technology II: Audio Design and Processing (2)  

BM in Music Performance majors may not double-count these music technology courses as “Performance Electives” in degree

2. Eight credits in general music courses selected from

• MUS 1002 - Exploring Technology in Music (4)  
• MUS 1006 - Exploring Film Music (4)  
• MUS 2020 - Computer-based Music Composition (4)  

3. Four credits applied music selected from

• Applied lessons on the instrument or voice with which the student performed the entrance audition

Requirements for voice students:

• MUS 1160 - Vocal Techniques (2)  and then MUA 1000 - Voice (2)  

4. Four credits of ensemble

• Any MUE course; some ensembles are subject to audition
