Requirements for the liberal arts major in music, B.A. program
This degree is for students who wish a broad general education without a high degree of specialization in music. Students should consult the Undergraduate Music Handbook available on the department website, www.oakland.edu/mtd and should also consult with the departmental adviser in the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office to plan their degree program. Only major courses in which a grade of at least 2.0 has been earned will count toward the major. This degree program requires a minimum of 124 credits. A. Liberal Arts Requirements — 40 Credits
University general education requirements
(music courses may not be used to fulfill the arts category) Note
MUS 430 counts as the capstone course in the major and includes credits (4) for the capstone course requirement. College distribution requirements
Two additional courses from any two of the distribution categories except art/literature and language Language
Modern language course (115 or higher) Note
This major requirement will fulfill both general education and the college distribution requirements. B. Music Requirements — 60 credits
Applied music - single instrument/voice - to be chosen in consultation with adviser
Must progress to and pass 300-level applied. Applied music elective - may include conducting, and keyboard techniques if applied area is not piano
